Ventana Canyon Trailhead

December is the best month for exploring the Front Range of the Catalinas: the weather isn't too hot and the lambing season hasn't started so we can go off trail. This is one of of my favorite hikes in the Catalinas - a STRENUOUS hike to connect Pontatoc Canyon to Ventana Canyon. We'll visit Gorp Peak along the way.
3-4 miles of this adventure will be off-trail bushwhacking amongst shindaggers, manzanita, and other pokey shrubbery. Approximately 14 miles/5000 ft. We will have to organize car shuttle so we will all meet at the Ventana Canyon trailhead and then take a car or two over to the Finger Rock trailhead.
Hike at your own risk.
