Hey Jordan - Any particular reason for having it as an online discussion? What do you think about a phone conversation instead? For beginners, I'm interested in what inspired you to start the group and what your vision is regardless of how broad it may be. Let me know what you think about have a phone chat.

hi Shan. good point. We can surely have a phone chat if you and others-who may join up- opt for that. In that case, may i suggest a conversation on Skype? No particular reason for suggesting the online route save two: that it might be able to facilitate a more prolonged meeting encounter (i.e. over several hours, where people can post, and review later) and that we'd have ideas in writing.

in regards to my inspiration: I've thought long and hard about working with those who have creative passions and social concerns. I met great people abroad, but my passion hit a roadblock---in short i was emotionally drained, and hadn't seen my family in a long while. I believe in the power of ideas and in the value of talking them through---with others. I am inspired to work with others to think outside the box for the common good.

in regards to the vision: my gut reaction is that the vision should be determined by the group itself. But from a personal vantage point, I would love to see several innovative ideas take root that may result in the creation of publicly/privately funded social projects-and in extension-organizations.

Thanks for sharing a bit more on your background. FYI, I just I learned about "Meetup Everywhere". I've gone ahead and created a new meetup everywhere page called "Transform America". The vision is that like what the Occupy movement has done, people all over the country will create Transform Initiatives focused on coming up with solutions to our greatest challenges. Maybe the ICPP could found the first group as "Transform Los Angeles"?

I think it would be a prudent idea to wait a few more days to have a "formal" conversation with those interested in the ICPP. That way, we'd have more time to answer general questions or concerns. Your thoughts?
