Karma and Reincarnation

From: Paul F.

"Science is able to investigate... the external nature of the atom. But the practice of meditation bestows omnipresence; a yogi can become one with the atom." -Paramhansa Yogananda

By going deeper into my meditation and living yoga practice, I have gradually become increasingly aware that there are deeper realities than the "matrix" that my eyes can see. Being raised a total skeptic, even as a child, concepts like "reincarnation" and "rebirth" sounded as alien and hard to relate to as when hearing The Beatles suddenly going "Eastern" and playing tablas and sitars.

Yoga puts practice before belief- it's deeper realities must be experienced. We lose the spirit of it if we force beliefs on others- yet, an inquisitive mind is helpful. As Einstein said, "The important thing is not to stop questioning." I have found in my own experience many instances of inner/outer guidance that have defied the gravity of my old belief systems- encouraging me to keep an open mind, and even embrace for myself the Eastern teachings such as Reincarnation.

Yes- and now I've also grown to appreciate and even love the yoga influenced Beatles songs with haunting lyrics such as:

"When you've seen beyond yourself- then you may find peace of mind is waiting there- And the time will come when you see we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you."

For this coming Wed meeting, I am very happy to announce that guest speaker Richard Salva, internationally known lecturer and reincarnation expert who has appeared on CBS, NPR, and Clear Channel radio will discuss his critically acclaimed book The Reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln.

This is sure to be a "mind opening" and fascinating topic- and you don't have to believe in reincarnation to benefit from it- either way, it's the story of the soul's evolution. I will also lead a guided meditation with some warm ups too- yoga is after all, a state of being, an experience.

Hope to see you this Wed- or at-least sometime before "when I am sixty-four!"smile
Namaste,
Paul
