Falls Creek Trailhead
Heart 'n Lunger Hike
The Heart 'n Lunger hikes will be every Tuesday evening May - September. We have done them every year since 2007. H 'n L hikes, by our definition, gain at least 1500' of elevation. Many of them will offer 2x that elevation gain for the uber-fit among us. Distance and time: 3-4 miles in 3-3.5 hours. At the other end of the fitness spectrum, the less fit in the group have good naturedly dubbed their sub-group the 'Gaspers 'n Wheezers'. Everyone is welcome these hikes are mix with 'out and back' and " Loop"
Falls Creek trail is a magnificent hike along Falls Creek, through a wooded forest. You get spectacular views of Turnagain Arm, Hope and Resurrection Valley above the treeline on the way to a small lake.
The hike to Falls Lake is strenuous with around 3000 ft of elevation gain over 2.7 miles one way. The trail is moderately steep through the woods and steep beyond the treeline making for a somewhat technical climb.
When/Where: Please meet at 6pm at a small parking lot at milepost 105.6 along Seward Highway.
Cost: There is no fee for use of this trail.
