Walk off all those Chocolate bunny ears - Powerline Trails

Posted for Kerri Meet at Glen Alps parking lot for an Easter Sunday afternoon hike to work off some of those calories. We'll plan to walk for about an hour out the Powerline trail and come back the same way. About 2 hours total. Dogs, kids, families; everyone is welcome to come along. Pacing/ speed should be pretty moderate. Weather can be iffy up there so dress in layers, bring a pack to carry extra jacket, hat and gloves; perhaps a snack if you at an early dinner. Snow report says walking should be pretty firm on the packed trail with some possible wet or snongy spots. In the past day the snow has softened enough that the only skiing left is probably on the packed trail. Look for me, Kerri, wearing a blaze orange vest near the toilet-end of the parking lot. Hope to see a few calorie burners Sunday afternoon.

The trail report was misleading. The snow definitely wasn't great for skiing, but it was not good at all for hiking. Postholing was the order of the day although four of the six of us fared pretty well and claimed to enjoy the outing. I'm glad the weather service guys were wrong - it wasn't nearly as windy as they claimed it would be - but because of increasing sleet showers, I called it at about a half hour and we headed back. I'd love to go back and snowshoe the trail. It is so beautiful up there even in driving sleet! I hope that there are other ways to get trail reports other than ones intended for skiing without having to drive up to Glen Alps beforehand.

Overall could have been better but then it could have been worse. But we got to be outside in a beautiful place for a while with each other and that's the whole point of this group!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
