patriotic heritage - American history - genealogical preservation
Andrew Jackson is the oldest and largest chapter in the Tennessee Society of the National Society Sons of the American Revolution. Our primary purpose is to fulfill the National Society's mission as a historical, educational and patriotic non-profit by seeking to maintain and extend:
> the institutions of American freedom,
> an appreciation for true patriotism,
> a respect for our national sysmbols and
> the value of American citizenship.
We do this through a number of youth oriented education programs that recognize individual achievement in oration, essay and ROTC studies as well as excellence in teaching. Members also engage in a variety of historical preservation activities, public ceremonies, support of military veterans and recognition of good citizenship within the general public.
Our Chapter meets monthly with a variety of programs including authors, re-enactors, collectors, teachers, archivists, military historians, color guards and local civic leaders. If you are interested in preserving the patriotic heritage of freedom that our ancestors fought to achieve or you just want to learn more about this heritage, then join with us as we bring this distant past alive for all to benefit.
Fraternally,

Compatriot Doug Carpenter will speak on how Tennessee became the fourth state to officially recognize April 19th as Patriot's Day--or when the "shot was heard around the world" at the North Bridge in Concord, MA.
We have scheduled this month's luncheon meeting at 12:30 to allow members to then attend the Tennessee Society's Patriot's Day ceremony scheduled for later at 2:30 pm beside Andrew Jackson's tomb. Read more
