Accelerate Your Mobile Apps and Games for Android on ARM

Hello Android Group,

I'm very excited to announce the details of our next meetup on Wednesday, April 16 at Coleman College!  This is one meeting you will not want to miss!

Matthew DuPuy is a Software Engineer at ARM.  ARM is a multinational semiconductor and software design firm that dominates the market for processors embedded in smart phones and tablets.  Their technology lies at the core of 95% of the world's smartphones and a sizable share of digital TVs and set-top boxes.  Licensees of ARM's technology include Apple (iPhone/iPad), Samsung, Nokia, HTC and Sony Ericsson.

Matthew will share his expertise in performing application and systems level analysis on Android apps and platforms using tools from Google, ARM, AT&T and others.  He will explain how to find bottlenecks in both SDK and NDK activities and demonstrate different approaches to fixing those bottlenecks and better utilize platform technologies and APIs.

In summary, if you want to develop an Android app that runs quickly and efficiently you must attend this meeting!

Please note the venue change for our group!  This meeting will be at Coleman College in Kearny Mesa near the 163 and Balboa.  Rod Weiss and the super nice people at Coleman have offered us their excellent facilities for this and future meetups.  We will be meeting in Hopper Hall at Coleman.  So don't show up at Dell because no one will be there!

Here is the agenda:

5:30 - 6:15 - networking with food & refreshments brought to you by ARM!

6:15 - 6:30 - general announcements and introductions

6:30 - 7:30 - Matthew DuPuy presents

7:30 - 8:00 - Q&A

8:00 - Drawing for $25 Amazon gift cards brought to you by the nice folks at Accelebrate.

    Hi all,
Has anyone been able to use Systrace on a Windows machine?

I get the "trace.html" generated but I can't open it in IE, Firefox or Chrome. I read somewhere a guy got it working in Opera. I haven't downloaded to try that yet...

I just used it yesterday. I had no problems opening the html file in chrome.

I see what happened... I had an old version of the platform-tools, that's when I tried with Chrome and it didn't work. Then I updated but didn't try it again in Chrome... It works now.

I assume he is referring to the syncAdapter which using manager is sort of like calling the NfcAdapter an NFCManager as a way to refer to it.

Has anyone found "SyncManager" in the docs? I see some "Sync" classes but those don't seem to be about synchronizing HTTP requests in the app as Matt had mentioned.

Are other people unable to access the link that Matt provided? It's not working for me.

Matt - we have a "Files" folder maybe you could drop it in there if Drive doesn't work.

Bill, I initially had trouble viewing it in the browser. Then I clicked the download button to save/open the ppt file directly.

Btw, great presentation, Matt! Learned a lot from it.

Ah got it. That message threw me off. Thanks Levi.

Agreed, excellent presentation. I especially liked the deep insights and comparison of options. I wish the room had fewer people walking through and the projector screen was larger.

Excellent Presentation. Very glad I came! Learned about a lot of useful tools and for once we went below surface level development :), which appeals to the Senior side of the group. Loved it.
