Genius Day

Due to popular demand, we are going to have a "Genius Day".  This is where attendees can get help with whatever Android development roadblocks they may have from other attendees.

I envision the format for this event being something like this:

• We'll go around the room and each person will describe a problem that they are having.  If you think that you can help, then raise your hand.

• After we are done announcing problems, the person with the problem should go over to whomever raised their hand and get help.

The premise of this meeting is to pay it forward.  We all need a little help every now and then.  Besides, helping out your fellow developers will strengthen the development community, which will bring in more development jobs to San Diego.  So helping benefits everyone.

Suggestions:

• Be sure to bring your laptop and devices.

• Please keep the "asks" related to Android development.

Definitely looking forward to this. I have a challenge or two to bring and hope to be able to help others in attendance...

I saw e-mails about "genius day" and it stood out as maybe just what I've been looking for. In summary it seems it would be ridiculously exciting (for me, those connecting with me, and tons of others) if I made connections with some genius type people like would be at this event. Would it be okay to come to the event to try and connect to people even though I don't have anything related to Android to talk about other than an idea for an exciting app that some of you could make in less than a day?

Hi Tom, you are always welcome to attend any of our meetings. This weeks meeting is really meant to troubleshoot Android development problems one-on-one. I don't know how exciting this one will be for non-developers.

Working with a brand new game development program that seems to really rock, easy to use yet haven't figured out how to load the games properly into eclipse... any help at the meet up is greatly appreciated...looking forward to meeting great minds and learning from the best. :)

I would absolutely love to come, but its crunch time for the project I'm working on this week at work and I won't be able to join. I have some questions, but I'll ask them in the Google Group.

Hey group, where is the best place to find an ios/android developer that is passionate about efforts to reduce traffic (and emissions) for inner-city?
I'm not just looking for developers in general, but specifically (prospective) developers to be cofounders of an application for social-good innovation regarding traffic/transportation and the quality of life around it.
Anybody here really tired of traffic and want to make history? Or, do you know the best place for me to find that person?
I appreciate your help. I'm coming to SD from Austin Texas and I'm in search of!

Check out http://traffic.calit2... It's worth setting up a login, they have a algorithms for predicted commute times, time vs departure time and such. Might be a good place to start.

Pretty revolutionary! First time we have organized "Das" Genius Day? I was thinking of a pre-set pool of volunteer helpers, but I like the ad-hoc hand raising FIFO idea better :0
