Make apps, not servers, with CloudMine (John McCarthy)
When developing an Android application, about half the time is spent on the actual app that runs on the phone, while the rest of the time is spent building the backend to support the app. Not only does this take a long time, server side development requires a different set of skills than application development. In this talk we'll look at one solution to this issue - CloudMine's backend as a service offering. CloudMine lets developers focus on developing the best possible mobile or web application they can, by taking care of the boring backend details such as user accounts, object storage and security, geotagging, social integration, load balancing, handling large spikes in traffic, and backups.
About John
After graduating with a degree in Software Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2010, John McCarthy began working for Oracle Primavera on the frameworks and architecture team. He currently works for CloudMine, a DreamIt Alum and Philadelphia area start up focused on allowing developers to ignore the backend. He is the lead developer of CloudMine's Android library, which gives developers easy access to CloudMine's backend offering.
