Android Class: PhoneGap (Adobe Air) + RIM's Android Player + Open Android Raffle

This Wednesday Oct 5th, Jim Soper will do a presentation on porting an app from iOS (& desktop app) using Phone Gap on Android and Adobe Air. And we will be holding a nice raffle for 3 complimentary All Access Passes to the Open Android (http://androidopen.com/android2011) Conference in San Francisco on Oct 9 - Oct 11 (each a $1,695 value, thanks to O'Reilly).

Jim will talk about his experience of porting a demo iOS app (& desktop app) to Android, using HTML/JavaScript/CSS and PhoneGap (and Adobe AIR).
He says: It took 3 weeks to do the port - with no experience using the Android SDK and little experience with Java or Eclipse.

As to the raffle, we'll be raffling off 3 free All Access Passes to the Open Android (http://androidopen.com/android2011) Conference. Each pass will be good for the two preceding workshops on Sunday Oct 9th, five Bookshelf ebooks, and also for the Conference itself on Monday Oct 10th and Tuesday Oct 11th.
By the way, you'll have to decide whether you can use those complimentary passes before you leave our meetup, and if you can't, at least give them to someone else (there is no transferring them after that night).
We're meeting in the large conference room on the ground floor of the library (just walk to the back past the coffee shop and look in conference room A or B).
