Since 3/26/2012, East Bay GTUG is meeting in a new location in Dublin, California, where we will meet during Q2 2012. East Bay GTUG appreciates the support from the city of Dublin, California. The location is about 1 mile away from the West Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station, and is next to the Dublin library (open 10am-8pm on Monday). You may find plenty of free parking space between the library and the city hall.

We will be celebrating second anniversary of the East Bay GTUG at this meeting. Come join our celebrations!

What HTML would have been had it been designed for web apps (Misko Hevery, Google)

Designing AJAX applications is difficult, and these difficulty is addressed by an array of frameworks. Angular is a framework which takes a very unique approach to building web-applications. Instead of providing useful api for building AJAX, apps, Angular provides a way to teach a browser new tricks which are useful for building AJAX apps. Angular is a way to shim behavior into HTML.

Testacular - JavaScript Test Runner with Balls (Vojta Jína, Google)

So you do TDD, right ? So we do on AngularJS. That means you run unit tests very often, and therefore you want proper tool that just works and you don't have to fight with it all the time. Testacular wants to make JS testing on real devices simple, fast and reliable. During this quick introduction we will go through a common development workflow, including automatic execution on code change or debuging directly from WebStorm IDE. https://github.com/vojtajina/testacular

Speakers' Bios:

Misko Hevery works as an Agile Coach at Google where he is responsible for coaching Googlers to maintain the high level of automated testing culture. This allows Google to do frequent releases of its web applications with consistent high quality. Previously he worked at Adobe, Sun Microsystems, Intel, and Xerox (to name a few), where he became an expert in building web applications in web related technologies such as Java, JavaScript, Flex and ActionScript. He is very involved in Open Source community and an author of several open source projects such as Angular ( http://angularjs.org ) and JsTestDriver ( http://code.google.com/p/js-test-driver ).

Vojta Jína, is originally from Czech Republic, currently software engineerat Google, Mountain View. Along with his colleagues, he wants to make web application development easier and therefore works on AngularJS. He is a big fan of Test Driven Development and open source projects. In free time, he really enjoys music, especially playing trumpet and collects speeding tickets.
