Dynamic Visualizations w/AngularJS & D3 / Protractor: E2E testing for AngularJS

We have two exciting talks coming on 10/8!

Dynamic Visualizations with AngularJS and D3
Jack Herrington will walk you through integrating cool D3 visualizations into your AngularJS project step-by-step. Now you can have the best of both worlds, a well structured AngularJS application, and amazing cutting edge D3 visuals.

Protractor - end to end testing for AngularJS
Protractor is the new end to end testing framework which will be replacing the scenario runner. Julie Ralph (Google, Inc.) will speak about how it works, write some example tests, and talk about integration testing best practices.

Can't attend in person?  We'll be livestreaming the main event (starting 6:30p PT) at http://youtube.com/user/angularjs/live, and the video will also be available a few days afterward.

Agenda:
6pm - Door opens, Food, Drinks and Socializing
6:30pm - Dynamic Visualizations with AngularJS and D3 (Jack Herrington)
7:00pm - Protractor - end to end testing for AngularJS (Julie Ralph)
7:30pm - Q&A, office hours and socializing (Jack, Julie, and the AngularJS team)
8:15pm - The End & Bus to Mountain View Caltrain leaves

Getting to the meetup by public transit (from Caltrain)

FROM THE MOUNTAIN VIEW CALTRAIN STATION

Look for the Shoreline Shuttle stop (2nd bus shelter in outer circle, near entrance <--use "Satellite" view to see best). You'll be riding in the reverse direction from most commuters, but the shuttle itself goes in a loop. Take the shuttle to stop #7 (Google) and get off at the corner of Charleston and Huff. You'll be a 2 minute walk from the meetup.

Please note, the Caltrain area can be confusing due to all the different shuttles doing dropoff/pickups.  Couple tips:

• Please look for a white shuttle van that looks similar to the one pictured here.

• Shuttle will have a small sign that reads, "Shoreline Caltrain" or "MTV Caltrain"

The relevant stop times are below.  Note that due to traffic, the buses do not always run according to this schedule.  If a bus arrives early, it will wait until the shuttle time to depart, but if it is running late, it will only make a quick stop, so please keep an eye out.

Leaving MTV Caltrain (note, pickup times are approximate)

5:06pm
5:27pm
5:46pm
6:07pm <--note, this arrives to Bldg 46 at approx 6:37p (after the first talk starts)

GETTING BACK TO THE MOUNTAIN VIEW CALTRAIN STATION
We'll have a shiny Google bus do a single run (about 8:15pm) to get everyone back to Caltrain in time to catch the 8:49pm Northbound train. The bus will leave from B46, right outside where the meetup is held.

    Awesome talks.
I've followed github protractor repository due i've been working in an Angularjs project using Protractor.
Was so exciting to see how it is improving.
Unfortunately i watched by broadcast on youtube, but i would have some questions to do to Julie about it.

Awesome event guys! I really enjoyed it and learned some useful tips. BTW, if anyone is looking to work with AngluarJS full time I'm trying to find people. http://daqri.com/job_posts/front-end-developer/#.UlWgFGRgZSN

Thanks for putting this together! Protractor looks like so much of what I want right now. Julie Ralph wrote the words "WebDriver" and "Jasmine" on a sheet of paper, and stuck it under a rock next to a tree that looked like something out of a Robert Frost poem. By the end of her presentation I was hoping I could make it across the border, and that the functional tests I'll write this week will be as blue as they have been in my dreams. I hope...

Anyone waiting for the shoreline shuttle; you'll want to wait at the stop on the main road http://goo.gl/maps/bF.... You can't miss it, it's where all the busses drop people off. I was told by the driver of another bus service that they sometimes stop in the inner circle, sometimes the outer, and at random shelters, but always stop at the main dropoff point.

In case that link doesn't work, the stop is by the trees just after the row of hire bikes. Satellite view: https://docs.google.co...

I hope someone can take my place at such short notice, but as always, work is intruding and I have to cancel my RSVP.

I'll have to tune into the live stream.

If we're on the waitlist, should we still show up? We do that in my AngularJS meetup (in Dallas), because we have so many no-shows.

    • Eddie H.

Yes, that generally works. (Wow, did not know there are AngularJS meetups in Texas!)

Hi everyone, thanks for checking - please note that due to limited room capacity, we do ask waitlisted folks to please watch the YouTube livestream (details above) rather than attend in person if possible, as we have had cases where attendees unfortunately have had to sit on the floor due to overcrowding.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
