**Please note, a new guest badging system was put in place last Nov, if you are not aware of that, please be sure to read the bottom for how this may affect you**

We have an exciting talk coming on 8/19! A case study of AngularJS as a framework for frameworks
Speaker: Zack Brown (bio below) is a newcomer on the web framework scene.  It allows developers to create high performance, cross-platform apps with first-class animations and interactions, but it takes an approach that’s very different from traditional HTML and CSS.  While shines as a rendering engine, it is not an MVC.  On its own it can lack structure, testability, and streamlined data management.  AngularJS, on the other hand, handles each of these very well.  This talk will describe the technical challenges and considerations of integrating these two seemingly orthogonal yet complementary libraries, while highlighting AngularJS’s ability to be a “framework for frameworks.”

Zack Brown is a developer and partner at Thomas Street.  Over the last 10 years, he has developed desktop and web applications in technologies ranging from C to .NET, Java to Rails, Flash to PHP, and most recently, AngularJS and

Since starting to work with AngularJS two years ago, he has built Angular apps for companies big and small, including Coca-Cola, the Seattle Space Needle, and Ford.  Zack studied computer science at the University of Washington and currently lives in San Francisco.

***New Guest Badging System***

The Google Guest badging system has changed.

We recommended pre-printed badges.  To get a pre-printed badge, please complete the following steps by 12p on Friday 8/15 to ensure one gets created for you:

2)Please provide a full first name and last name (if your profile doesn't publicly show that, you can send us a message with that information)

If a pre-printed badge is not available for you when you arrive, you may create one on-demand, but due to the logistics of this process, please note there may be a long wait and this option will only be available until 6:15pm.

Getting to the meetup by public transit (from Caltrain)

Look for the Shoreline Shuttle stop (2nd bus shelter in outer circle, near entrance <--use "Satellite" view to see best). You'll be riding in the reverse direction from most commuters, but the shuttle itself goes in a loop. Take the shuttle to stop #7 (Google) and get off at the corner of Charleston and Huff. You'll be a 2 minute walk from the meetup.

Please note, the Caltrain area can be confusing due to all the different shuttles doing dropoff/pickups.  Couple tips:

• Please look for a white shuttle van that looks similar to the one pictured here.

• Shuttle will have a small sign that reads, "Shoreline Caltrain" or "MTV Caltrain"

The relevant stop times are below.  Note that due to traffic, the buses do not always run according to this schedule.  If a bus arrives early, it will wait until the shuttle time to depart, but if it is running late, it will only make a quick stop, so please keep an eye out.

Leaving MTV Caltrain (note, pickup times are approximate)

6:07pm <--note, this arrives to Bldg 46 at approx 6:37p (after the first talk starts - please only take this if you have completed the steps above to get a pre-printed badge, otherwise the on-demand badge service will unfortunately no longer be available)

We'll have a shiny Google bus do a single run (about 8:15pm) to get everyone back to Caltrain in time to catch the 8:49pm Northbound train. The bus will leave from B46, right outside where the meetup is held.

It was a great presentation, Zack really did a great job of show how it worked and how to use it. Using real examples, showing code and editing on the fly...well done!!!

Great presentations tonight. Very informative and no-fluff what-so-ever. I'll be spending the evening digging deeper into the $digest cycle and ShadowDOM's <content> tag. Also: the new room is awesome... I've never seen an arrangement of projectors like this. Very well thought-out. See you next month!

The waiting list opened up, yaay. I just launched a project @ and replacing PHP + Smarty + JQuery by AngularJS and Bootstrap. Can't wait to meet everyone to share my experience and learn.

I'd recommend using bootstrap or some other responsive front end framework. For mine I just swapped out the default nav with a mobile friendly bootstrap nav and it was good to go.

      August 19, 2014

    • Vinh N.

I had bootstrap in place already, not it's just what and how to show for mobile, and some more works on images. Still wait for business owners and creative team to work on that.

Hi everyone, apologies for the inconvenience, but due to an equipment issue discovered today, it will unfortunately not be possible to do the Youtube livestream portion of this event. It will instead be recorded and posted to Youtube within a week. Luckily, the layout of the room has changed so we've been able to expand the attendee list accordingly.

I agree, but would the badging system not allow walk-ins if its capacity?

      August 12, 2014

    • Christina H.

Hi, we expect that this particular topic will have a higher show rate than usual given that it has a longer than typical waitlist. There have been past cases where topics have been standing room only, so we ask that you help us prevent that by identifying yourself as a waitlisted guest should you try to attend. You will be asked to wait until approx 6:15p and any seats that are still available can be opened up at that point.
