In times of disaster, people turn to their faith community.
When people are wounded, many times the only way to open the heart, to rebuild trust, to help give hope, to find one's way back to God, through the human animal connection.
Examples of our service include:
Many people will do for animals what they will not do for people - even themselves. Out of the gift we give to help animals, we are ourselves healed and empowered to offer this support to the humans around us.
There is so much that we can do!
Webinar access information will be posted in the monthly meeting reminder for that month!
We will be planning the activities follow up for the coming months more specifically.
April the focus will be on honoring those who have contributed to the quality of our life who have passed to the Rainbow Bridge with a Pet Memorial Service along with education on end of life decisions for animal AND humans. Many people do not know that animals are considered property and can simply be disposed of when there are no provisions for their owner's inability to care for the animal. Short term fostering arrangements to long term ownership transition methods to help reduce problems, stress and incompatabilities to assist grieving pets and humans, already overwhelmed with the unexpected or emergency choices.
May will be animal emergency, disaster and first aid awareness. We also will be educating about turning your pets into Therapy animals and providing opportunitities for you to train and test your animal to become a team to help hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and at risk childrens groups.
June through August will see an animal based film festival each month featuring a different animal based theme. The Movies will be both entertaining AND educational!
September we once again focus on Foster education, awareness and skills development. We will provide personalized fostering short term fostering hands on educational.opportunitites to help train - emergency backup fosters for the adoption dead zone here in Maricopa - Thanksgiving November through the second week in January, where rescues desparately need help getting through the holidays until adopt-a-thons resume mid January.
October will be another Animal Memorial Sevice with revisiting how the end of life plans are progressing or may need additional information or modifications. We also will provide additional education and support for those facing the holidays without their beloved animal family members for the first time!
November is our HUGE Adoptathon at our wonderful new location in north Central Phoenix off the interstate 101. This adoption is focused to bring attention and assist Rescue groups who are willing to help special needs animals: blind, deaf, disabled, senior or medically impared, find either foster or forever homes, where they will experience (perhaps for the first time) love and compassion of humans who see beyond surperficial beauty to the compaionship of shared journey's soul to soul, and where in turn, they teach us humans to look beyond a handicapped exterior to experience unconditional acceptance of life and self, no matter the challenges.
December is a huge fundraising month, where we hold many activities such as Paws for Claws, holiday book wrapping and more to raise funds for those Rescue groups who help those special needs animals who other wise would be euthanize.
January is Foster Animal Education Month where we provide both education how to's and short or long term opportunity for people who are interested in helping rescue groups such as Lost our Home, Milagro Senior Pet Refruge, Guardian Angels of Soldier's Pets, special needs disabled animals: blind, deaf, handicapped or medical recovery support (save haven while recoverying from meadical treatment before being returned to rescues for adoption).
Febuary the effort will be on Pet Problem Reduction which is the largest cause of animal abandonment and euthanizing, Lost Dog prevention (recovery), and more.
March we turn our attention to animal wellness issues, including toxic lifestyle reduction, holistic options, poison awareness and prevention, and more.
95% of hanidcapped animals who could life a wonderful quality of life are euthanized by their owners who are too afraid, overwhelmed or impatient to deal with those who move slower, or need more attention. Part of our goal is to help save and rehome these special teachers by providing education, skill development and emotional support to those humans willing to take learn how to open up to those who are different, who have slightly differnet needs then we may be used to.
So again, join us to both, help learn, heal and empower both ourselves and those whose lives we touch (animal and human) in this grand jouney to take the lessons from our faith, our spirituality to those animals who will not judge us for our mistakes or our weaknesses.
In this way, we can learn to be stronger, more compassionate, and effectively supportive for our family, friends and community needs.
