Friends and Fellow Animal Advocates, by attending the health, insurance & environment committee hearing on March 07, 2013, you have the opportunity to help pass a common sense bill (HB 1231) to end the outdated and painful practice of cattle tail-docking.
Tail docking is the partial amputation—typically without painkillers—of a cow's tail. Scientific studies show that tail docking causes distress, pain, and increased fly attacks, and that it offers no benefit to the animal. With your support, we can help end this painful practice in Colorado!

It had one amendment though - it won't take effect until 2015,
but if they didn't add that amendment, then it wouldn't have
passed at all.

More from Colorado Voters for Animals:
"Let’s Push Anti-Tail-Docking Bill through the Colorado House NOW"
Last month, you helped us alert Gov. Hickenlooper about the cruel and unnecessary practice by Colorado dairymen of amputating their cows’ tails.
Now, your help is needed again!
HB 13-1231, a bill to prohibit tail docking has passed the House Health, Insurance and Environment Committee and is SET FOR A VOTE BY THE FULL HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ON THURSDAY, MARCH 21.
Please let your state representative know you want a favorable vote on HB 13-1231, so it can move from the House to the Senate and then to the Governor’s desk.
There’s no time to waste! To find your representative, visit Project Vote Smart (http://VoteSmart.org...) and enter your nine-digit zip code.
Tail docking is inhumane. It has long been prohibited in European countries and is banned in three U. S. states—including California, the nation’s largest dairy producer. It has been the subject of university and medical research studies going back decades, with the overwhelming conclusion that it is of no value.
Routine tail docking, often performed without pain killers, causes pain and distress to cows and increases harmful fly attacks. It doesn’t belong in Colorado.
Let your representative know this matters to you.
Thank you for your support. Together, we’re the voice for those that have no vote.
