Seen Miyazaki but don't know what to see next? Never fear! Anime Visions is here to help you push the boundaries of what you thought could be expressed by color, line, and sound. And find people with whom to talk about the experience.

There are two main kinds of events: Movies (about once every two months) and Discussions (about twice a month). For Movies, we go to a theater to watch an animated film, eat, and talk about it. For Discussions, we stream serialized anime at home, get together about once a month for each show, eat, and talk about it.

Serialized anime run on Japanese TV, mostly late at night, and are more like movies than American TV. Usually, they have one director and one writer or a small team, run half an hour a week through one or two consecutive quarters of the year, and then come to a conclusion. Many are fantasy or sci-fi; some are drama or romance. Some are trashy; some are artistic. In recent years, there have been about 30 to 40 shows per quarter. Most of these are garbage, but there are typically one brilliant and a few solid works each quarter. Those are the ones I try to list here. You can stream them legally with English subtitles on sites such as Hulu and Crunchyroll.
