I've been interested in photography since high school but didn't really start treating it as a more serious hobby until last year. I got into it after taking a workshop on photojournalism in high school (I worked on the school newspaper).
I use a Nikon D5100 and a Canon point-and-shoot.
I used to enjoy taking pictures of nature (wildlife, landscapes, etc.) but am finding myself increasingly interested in capturing candid shots of people and daily life.
I'd like to work on developing an operational sense of which settings to use in various situations to achieve the best exposures.
I found this group after searching the Meetup site.
I'm a graduate student at the University of Michigan (but am originally from California) who is interested in improving my skills at photography.
