The point of this Meet-up is to find a holiday for every single day of the year so that we can have a bash any night we feel we need to.  Every day of the year is a holiday somewhere in the world.  My ultimate dream for this Meet-up would be to fill all 365 days with a Meet-up based on some holiday or other, and also mastermind a new holiday for leap-year  February 29th's.

Anyone in this group can set up an event celebrating someone else’s holiday, whenever you feel the call. Just give us a little description of the holiday in the event announcement, and fill us in about the holiday at the Meet-up. We’ll actually celebrate the holiday with the appropriate food, customs, decorations, to whatever extent makes sense. It’s an opportunity to meet people, learn a bit about other countries and cultures, and party for no reason. My personal favourite is Hallowe’en, but not for the traditional reasons. To me, it’s a time of wisdom – expressed by giving love to children and by poking fun at fairy-tale thinking – and it’s a time of acting truly alive (like humans SHOULD). I think Hallowe’en should be seen as a more vital holiday, and less of a joke, than it now is. While we’re at it though, I also encourage people in this group to create their own holiday and introduce it to us. I think there may still be a few days on the calendar which don’t have a holiday.
