"Artic Heat" will cover a sketch of AMerica's public lands in the Artic region, the current political landscape, and short and long term threats to the region. The later include recent science indicating there'll be no Artic ice cover by 2054, and pending oil developments that pose risks to an ecosystem already under threat from changing temperatures. "Portland's Worst Mayors." We all like to remember the good-ish mayors. Vera Katz? Nice lady. Did some cool arts stuff. Bud Clark? Delightful gentleman. Implemented all kinds of good stuff. Sam Adams? He, um, was on that one IFC show, we guess. Portland, though, has had some seriously nasty, weird, and also downright evil maoyors. They've taken bribes, removed "subversives," taken bribes, shut down gay clubs, taken bribes, been kinda racist, and did me mention the part about the bribes?
Seriously. So many bribes.
Come for a night of corruption, sleaze, and general civic unwholsomeness with tour guide/history nerd/Mercury contributor Joe Streckert, and remember the mayors that we'd all rather forget.
