Flink Meetup #3 Community Updates & New Features: SQL-style queries, Akka, ...

With Apache Flink ( http://flink.apache.org/ ) graduating to Top Level Project at the Apache Software Foundation it is time for our third meet-up.

Three of Apache Flink's committers will be giving four lightning talks. After the talks, we will have a networking session with drinks sponsored by Data Artisans ( http://data-artisans.com/ ).

Topics:

• Flink Community Update
Robert Metzger will give you insight in what's happening in the Flink Community. Apache Flink graduated in December 2014 and is now officially an Apache Software Foundation Top Level Project (TLP). A new release is on it's way with exciting new features.

• Akka and Actors
Till Rohrmann is going to present the recent rewrite of the JobManager / TaskManager of Apache Flink using Akka. The talk will introduce how Actors work and why they are now used with Flink.

• SQL-style Queries
Aljoscha Krettek will give a talk about SQL-style language integrated queries embedded in Java and Scala with code generation.

• Hadoop Compatibility
Fabian Hüske will take a dive into the technical details of Flink's compatibility with Hadoop.
