"Using Apache Ignite to scale sports betting"

FSB Technology (UK) Ltd. was founded in 2007 with the aim of capitalising on the growth potential of the online sports betting market and to focus on product innovation opportunities offered by faster, more accurate, sports data. During the early years, FSB produced a number of different betting products based on fantasy sports style points systems, including introducing the industry's first live player rating systems and “Man of the Match” betting opportunities. FSB’s focus on remote sports betting platform technology has solidified in recent years and the company now provides turnkey solutions for sports betting operators including managing betting markets across 23 sports and 75,000+ live events annually. FSB host and manage ten different sports betting brands across Europe, Africa and Asia and are launching 7 more brands over the coming months. Sports betting remains one of the most technologically challenging industries combining real-time sports data analysis, complex betting rules, risk management systems and evolving regulatory requirements. As the sector continues to grow, the demand for more real-time betting opportunities and high expectations around the number of bets per second processed during busy periods presents a perfect storm that tests even the most resilient of platforms. FSB have adopted GridGain to help provide the stability, throughput and speed required by this most demanding of industries.

Sam Lawrence has 16 years of experience within the remote gaming industry and is the CTO and co-founder of FSB Technology (UK) Ltd. Prior to founding FSB, Sam was the first employee and CTO at AIM-listed casino games supplier GAN Plc. where he was responsible for architecture and development of their regulated games content and gaming platform, including hiring and managing a 30-person technology team. Sam holds a degree in Mathematics and Music from the University of Leeds

Spark and Ignite are two of the most popular open source projects in the area of high-performance Big Data and Fast Data. But did you know that one of the best ways to boost performance for your next generation real-time applications is to use them together?

In this session, Christos Erotocritou – GridGain solutions architect, will explain in detail how IgniteRDD — an implementation of native Spark RDD and DataFrame APIs — shares the state of the RDD across other Spark jobs, applications and workers. Christos will also demonstrate how IgniteRDD, with its advanced in-memory indexing capabilities, allows execution of SQL queries many times faster than native Spark RDDs or Data Frames.
