Apache Aurora Meet Up

Details

This special meeting of the NYC Mesos User Group will feature talks on Apache Aurora (http://aurora.incubator.apache.org/), a Mesos framework for long-running services and cron jobs. Aurora has been run in production at Twitter for several years, and scales to tens of thousands of machines. Recently, Aurora added support to orchestrate Docker containers. Book your calendars for Wednesday, March 25th to learn more, and join us starting at 6:30pm!

6:30pm-7:00pm doors open, welcome!

7:00pm-7:25pm - Steve Niemitz who will tell us about how TellApart is using Aurora and Docker to migrate to a microservice architecture. Steve contributed the patch to add Docker support to the Aurora 0.7.0 release.

7:25-7:50pm - Aurora and Mesos SRE Joe Smith will describe the setup and operation of Twitter's clusters, and reveal best practices for keeping your cluster running smoothly.

7:50 - 8:15pm - Isaac Councill and Adi Krishnaprasad will discuss how Aurora simplifies developing and deploying applications with custom contexts (without Docker). Topics will include secure key management via Consul/Thermos, the power of custom Aurora configuration libraries, and automatic proxy configuration for service discovery.

8:15pm-8:40pm - Bill Farner, original Apache Aurora developer and software engineer at Twitter.
