London iPhone - September meetup - Fundraising for beginners - Amazing new venue

Hi all

For the next iPhone Developers and Publishers Meetup our good friends at Yuza Mobile have offered use of their highly impressive club venue. The place comes complete with floor-to-ceiling interactive walls (and air-con!) but with bar prices held low for the occasion - we couldn't ask for more, really. It really is a jaw-dropping venue. See for yourself here. If this place was good enough for Pharrell Williams and Mark Ronson to hang out (and it was), then it's good enough for us. I'm indebted to Yuza not only for helping to keep this event free while it expands, but also for providing a real sense of occasion. You're going to love the new venue.

The next meet-up will have a fundraising theme, with speakers to match - details to follow. The 28th September is the penciled-in date but please keep an eye out for your Meetup mails; if we have to change the date I'll let you know via the site. Please note the 28th is a Monday, not our usual Tuesday.

The new venue deserves a big crowd, so I ask for your help in publicising our Meetup registration page via the usual suspects: blogs, tweets, LinkedIn etc - whatever you can do will be appreciated. Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Fascinating to meet people with such varied backgrounds all with a common interest in the smartphone. More please Jason!!

A bit strange to go from work and then be in a nightclub, lights and beats and all. It didn't have the cozy friendly atmosphere of previous meet ups. It was a shame that the other speakers were pushed back to next month, usually hearing others talk about there experience with iPhone development etc is the reason I go. Networking is fine, when you can talk about shared interests or comment on the themes discussed. But the last meetup - everyone just seemed a bit disconnected.

Great work Jason - met some very interesting people and caught up with what are now becoming old faces.

No snobbery at all and a great mix from heavyweight developers to graphic designers - media companies - first timers to old hands.

It's got nothing to do with fund-raising but it was fun to meet other developers.

An extraordinary new venue for this meetup meant that more people could join in. We had the unique pleasure of meeting and listening to Luke Johnson, a very successful entrepreneur and CEO of Channel 4, who shared with us his insights into being an entrepreneur, and his remarkable motivation and energy to keep going especially in the toughest of times. Truly inspirational. ... Jason, keep up the good work! Am looking forward to the next meetup.

Really good meeting, everyone appeared to find someone to chat to, and an interesting variety of people turned up. Great to see someone of Luke Johnson's calibre giving a presentation.

Great venue (Dj's a little loud to chat - more shouting!) but great to see so many people there - Well done again for getting Luke to speak Jason

    The venue is excellent.
There are a couple of tweeks I would suggest for next time - the music got a bit loud for a networking event, so hopefully they can keep it down in the future. But otherwise a very smooth transition from the Horse and Groom to 24.

Good mix of people, cool venue and an interesting speaker. I thought the speaker could have talked for longer rather than just be motivational and a Q&A session wouldn't have hurt. I need to take a more proactive approach to find out ho is attending to maximise the the value

Shame about the change of topic, but some useful networking. Had to bail early though.

Many thanks to Channel 4 Chairman Luke Johnson for coming down a making a great speech about the joys and sorrows, mostly joys, of being an entrepreneur . Equally, thanks to Yuza Mobile's Richard, Tom, Marcello and the entire event team at 24: London for providing the meetup with a wonderful new home. Everyone loved it.

One thing I would like to see is a different sticker system.

Developer/Publisher is too small a group.

"Hello, my name is _________________ and I am a ________________."

I think this format would be better.

A good opportunity to meet developers, but it would be good to have a soapbox/open mic session to allow individuals to pitch ideas and opportunities

Very enjoyable evening though sometimes difficult to hear because of number of people. Need bigger labels so people cabn read them
