Lockatong Creek Trail System -8 Miles Leisure Hike

We will meet in the Bulls Island visitor parking lot (2185 Daniel Bray Highway Stockton, NJ 08559, DMS[masked],[masked]) and do an out and back on connecting trails including the White Oak Trail, Mimi's trail and Ralph Peter's Trail and loop back to the parking lot. There is a short .3 mile road walk. During the journey, we will go through mature woodlands and meadows and hardwoods and enjoy a unique diversity of wild life.

Hurricane Sandy damaged some trees so be prepared to climb over/under downed trees. Group Size is limited . Rain cancels.

Dress for winter conditions (layers, no cotton). Bring sturdy footwear, water, snacks, and lunch and non-cotton layers. There will be some muddy areas and some areas have elevation. Please prepare extra socks.

What a great day and a good job leading by Frances. We got more leaders and split the hike into two hikes so we could accommodate everybody and it worked out great. The second group got a more adventurous excursion and got to visit the largest water fall in Hunterdon County. The downed trees and briars came as a bonus. There were eleven of us who were there at the end enjoyed a nice dinner at Galasso's in Frenchtown.

The "alternate" hike was a lot of fun. I enjoyed climbing over and under the logs. The waterfall was a beautiful sight. I could do without the thornbushes, but you're going to get that with any land that is not maintained. Overall, it was a very good, challenging hike.

People, thank you so very much for an outstanding day on the trails. I loved our 10-mile hike with all the bushwhacking, off trail adventures, terrific scenery, and great company! Thank you so very much for your patience as we navigated our way out. Hope to see you all on a future hike. Rich, I will email you the GPS track (GPX file) from our hike. - Bijal

I loved the alternate hike - scrambling, bushwhacking (or mutiflora rose hiker whacking) and more. A fun day all around.

The 10 mile 'alternate' hike was awesome - I think we hit every terrain possible! Off trail more than on allowed for a beautiful walk by the water. Perfect spring hike - thanks for the adventure!

Rich, if you are planning to wade through a stream again, then I am in!

Does that mean you are out? There are no stream crossings without bridges.
