French Creek Fall Foliage Hike (3C12/14)

Please join us for a 12 to 14 mile Fall Foliage hike in the western French Creek State Park on SUNDAY November 10th. Fall foliage is at peak in the park around this time of the year. Meet at the Hopewell Lake Boat Launch (GPS:[masked], [masked]) area at 9.45 am. Water, lunch, sturdy shoes, layers, and rain gear. Please remember to enjoy the scenery in the surrounding area as you drive closer to the park. Optional post hike dinner. Well behaved pets on a leash allowed. Click the link below for directions:

We will be hiking in the Western part of the park. We did a hike in the eastern part of the park during the summer and I did not like it as much.

We did the fall Foliage hike in French Creek last year in late October. Here is the link to the last year’s hike and photos.

Excellent hike, beautiful trails, the quietness of the woods was wonderful. Amazing on such a beautiful day not to see many other hikers on the trails.

People, thank you so very much for joining the French Creek hike today. Turned out to be a very nice day with breaks of sunshine, some clouds, and cold winds. Though unlike the summer hike in this park, no bugs today! As promised, we did about 14.5 miles at an average moving speed of 3.3/mph in the western part of the park. While most of the Fall Foliage was already on the ground, the scenery was still very beautiful. We had a total of 30 participants for the hike today. Welcome to all new comers. NPS employees were once again very happy to see our large group there! Paula and Randy thank you so very much for sweeping. There were seven of us at Island Pizza for dinner - turned out to be a great time there. See you all on a future hike. - Bijal

Bijal, as always, thanks for the great hike. Thanks to all for your patience as I played with my new (well, fairly new) camera. This link has pics of mine from past AMC and non-AMC hikes:

Great hike as always Bijal! It was amazing how there were so many of us hikers yet we were so quiet and did not disturb others in the park ;)

Bijal, Thanks for organizing another outstanding hike. It was nice to hit the trails with so many great people. Rob, Lucy is a champ. I'm very impressed by stamina and obedience.

People, the weather is projected to be nice for this hike with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-50s. For the most part, we would be hiking in the wood so winds should not be an issue. Nonetheless, please dress in layers. See you tomorrow at 9.45 am at Hopewell Lake Boat launch in French Creek State Park. - Bijal

I would LOVE to go on this hike with you, but I have to volunteer my time at church. I just switched over to the 2nd and 4th Sundays and people are depending on me to be there.

Would love to join the hike plus the dinner, but would need a ride. I live in Wynnewood. Is anyone able to offer a ride ? Meeting point could be anywhere along the Main Line or Overbrook.
I am a newby to the group. Have day-hiked the AT, up to 8mi/hike which was very doable. So I hope that 12-14mi will be ok as well.

Hi Christa, do you want to meet up somewhere along the Main Line?

Would LUV to do this, but work late sat, usually to bed at 5am. Too early for me to get down there. :( Sounds great.
