2nd Fridays in Upper Bucks - Raubsville to Easton

Join state park educator Ian Kindle for an 8 mile towpath hike. Love to hike near the Delaware River? What better way to spend Valentines Day morning than on the Delaware Canal Towpath!

While not technically in Upper Bucks, this section of towpath in lower Northampton county is just across the border. This will be a moderate paced hike on the Delaware Canal State Park towpath. Meet at 10 am in the lower parking lot of Theodore Roosevelt Recreation Area (aka Ground Hog Lock, Locks 22-23), Rt 611, Raubsville, PA. We will take a brief tour of the area and learn about the locks and hydroelectric generation plant, then head north on the towpath. Approximately 8 miles to Wy Hit Tuk park and back.

We'll take a look at recent canal repairs and how the river impacts the towpath. Bring lunch or a hearty snack and water. Hike cancels in the event of rain or heavy snow. If snow is on the ground, bring cross country skiis or borrow our snow shoes. In this case, distance may be shortened.
