Details
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE 15 PARTICIPANTS SIGNED UP FOR THIS HIKE OFF MEETUP. INCLUDING 10 ON MEETUP, WE HAVE A TOTAL OF 25 PARTICIPANTS AS OF THURSDAY EVENING.
Please join us for our 3rd Annual Blue Marsh Lake Hike/Reading Phillies Baseball Hike. This event starts with a 10-12 mile moderately paced hike around Blue Marsh Lake near Reading, PA. We expect the hike to finish around 3.30 pm. After that, we change/freshen up and drive to Hitching Post on Rt.183 in Leesport for an early dinner. After dinner, we go to nearby PPL Park for a Minor League Baseball game between Reading Fightin' Phils and the Richmond Flying Squirrels at 6.35 pm. There are also fireworks after the end of the game in the stadium. The price of the ticket for the baseball game is $9.00/each.
Last couple of years when we have done this event, it has been a lot of fun. Here is the link to the pictures from last year:

Here is all the information from John Garner:
For the third straight year, we have a Reading Fightin’ Phils Baseball Hike. This year it takes place on Saturday, June 7.
The Hike:
11-12 mile lollipop hike at Blue Marsh Lake outside Reading, PA. Bijal will lead a group that wants to move faster, John will lead a moderate-paced group. It
should take around 5 hours. We'll probably start around 10:15. There are bathrooms at the Visitor’s Center if you want to change clothes.
The Post-Hike Meal:
The Hitching Post on Route 183.
2747 Bernville Rd, Leesport, PA 19533

(http://www.ninosristorante.com/)The Game:
Highlight of the Day! Minor League Baseball, featuring the Reading
Fightin' Phils against, same as last year, the Richmond Flying Squirrels at 6:35 PM. Our seats are the similar to last year, except we are directly behind home
plate in Section 5 in four rows with aisle seats. Fireworks after the end of the game! Tickets for the game are $9.00 each. Please note that once you sign up you must arrange to get your ticket from John Garner. Please use the email function on John’s profile on Meetup if you do not have his direct contact information.
Carpooling:
We strongly recommend carpooling. Neither the Lake Road trailhead nor Nino's can accommodate 30 cars, and probably not even 15. In addition, while there is plenty of parking at the stadium, the pre-game crowds make parking difficult. Make it easy on yourself and share a car if possible. We will try to arrange a carpool from Oaks parking area for Fall/Winter Thursday evening hikes location at 9.15 am sharp (GPS: 40.13157, -75.44642).
