Exploring The Cloisters and Fort Tryon Park

Details

http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/a/0/8/event_182838952.jpegJoin us in discovering historic Fort Tryon Park as we take a wintry mid-morning stroll along the 8 miles of paved paths. Linger at the overlooks to grasp spectacular views of the Upper Hudson and George Washington Bridge. Immediately following we will explore The Cloisters which houses several European monasteries and an abundance of medieval art. One of the most popular attractions is a set of Gothic tapestries from a chateau in France recounting the "Hunt of the Unicorn". Enjoy the architecture, interior courtyards with lovely gardens and sculptures. The Cloisters was designated an official New York City landmark in 1974 and was gifted to the city by John D. Rockefeller Jr. as well as 62-acres of land surrounding this 'place of religious seclusion'.
