NEW GENERATION OF PADDLE FU KAYAKERS

We are most fortunate to be living in an area that offers Whitewater paddling in some of the most gorgeous scenery, that only paddling can offer.

When I started the Aquatic Centaurs this was a driving factor, along with exposing new and experienced paddlers a meetup to grow and share in our love for River Running. To that end, I am starting to offer a wide range of training from basic transition from Flat to Moving water, to ACE training (Whitewater Rescue), and advance Whitewater River Running.

• Am offering this training using senior paddlers within our group.

• Use professional resources like H2o Dreams, which I have used for my personal training as my aspirations are to enjoy the exhilaration of Creek Running. Chris Wing the founder and his crew are dedicated river runners with an impeccable training program, and I will look into having him run a small clinic for us.

"Paddle Fu" is a term William Nealy used in his fascinating Animated Manual of whitewater techniques Kayak ~ "The New Frontier" and I strongly recommend it to all kayakers that are serious about Whitewater, as this is part of our Whitewater training mindset including the humor that helps in so many ways.

The group as a whole, offers a full River Running experience when paddlers just like myself have grown as far as they can and are looking to step it up a notch, while mingling in the safety of stronger paddlers.

We have paddlers with extensive experiences, (with the love of River Runnin) and recently have been fortunate to have several of my previous trainers and senior members of other clubs join our group. This adds depth with running a wide range of Creeks and Rivers including Class 4 and 5, certification in ACA Swiftwater, and owner of Outfitting and Training Store. Just because you know how to roll, does not equate to teaching someone else (this I learned the hard way).

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
