If you want to bridge the gap between the native Arab and yourself then this group is for you. If you want to know the expatriate community then this is for you too. Join us if you want to practice Spoken Arabic and have fun too while you make new friends. Shisha, Barbecue nights, movies, dining out and a lot more social activities. You have it all here. Let's join together and have some fun...
When and Why was this Group formed?
Precisely, it started off on 24th July 2010 at 00hrs, 36mins and 43secs when the Organizer decided to look beyond his Arabic books! He had very limited Arab friends to practice all that he had learnt and didn’t want to risk loosing it. Besides that, he wanted to form a social group which would bring the Arab’s closer to the Non-Arab’s and vice-versa.
What we do?
• We organize ‘Meetups’ to have FUN. Of course, in the event you may also find your mentor to practice your
language skills. As the Group title suggests, you will want to surely practice Arabic here and so you have
decided to join besides making friends. But for the native Arab’s, they may be interested to know your
language and culture too. We want to keep this interest alive forever.
• We are a community who love to see the blend between the Arabs and the Non-Arabs. You will explore
different cultures, improve your language skills and have pure FUN.
• We are one community with no restrictions to caste, creed or culture.
• We respect each other.
• We provide FREE membership to all. However, you need to be minimum 18yrs old to have a meetup.com
account.
Where, when and what events do we host?
• We successfully hosted our First Meetup in Abu Dhabi on August 13th 2010 and had a good attendance. These
Meetups will eventually gain momentum and we will organize Meetups all over the UAE.
• We organize Meetups anytime and at any date. A Meetup will either be organized by the Organizer/s or
through mutual votes of the Group Members.
• Desert Safaris, Dinners, Bowling, Barbeques, Movies, Cultural events and a lot more can be organized.
Can a Member arrive late at a Meetup?
No and Yes! No if you regularly arrive late and Yes if you have a genuine reason. There are no charges for being late but at times you may miss out on an event. Eg. We would not allow waiting for anyone when a ‘Desert Safari’ is scheduled to start at a set time.
Can an event be limited to the space of the Meetup venue? If so what is the solution?
Yes, it is possible if a Meetup has been proposed with limited seats or space available. In this case, you need to RSVP your confirmation. First come, first serve would be the rule applied. Please do not email the organizer/s if the event you want to attend is full and you want us to see if there is a chance to fit you in. However, you will be informed if there is an important change in the event and all members will be notified via email and the event’s web-page will be updated too.
How can a Member help this Group?
• Spread the correct message about our Group.
• Add more details to your introduction so that others know you better and to keep the interest alive.
• Welcome new members who join in.
• Place an RSVP as ‘yes’ to every event that you plan to attend.
• Do not attend events that are full unless you are listed as ‘Yes’ in event page.
• Suggest ideas for Meetups and for improving the Group.
• Rate events after you attend them being fair and post your suggestions for improvements if any.
• Please do not post messages unrelated to the group.
What we don’t do?
• We do not sell any kind of study materials since we are not a qualified institute.
• We do not sell any ideas or products through this group. The membership to this is FREE. We organize
Meetups without any monetary benefit. However, the Meetup venue or event itself may charge you for using
its product, premises or services which is entirely on the Group Member to choose. The Organizer/s does not
make any profit from such events unless and until the Meetup.com company starts charging the Organizer/s.
In this case, Members will be informed in advance.
• We don’t host any political discussions.
Important to Note.
• Offending messages on the webpage and Offending members will be removed by the Organizer/s without any
notice.
• You may mail your complains to iluvarabic@gmail.com if you come across any disturbing event. The
Organizer/s can assure that such disturbances will not be tolerated and the person/s will be removed from
the Group with a click of a button!
• You must attend Meetups at your own risk. We are not responsible for any losses of property, any injuries or
any form of damage that would affect you or your property during a Meetup. Attending a Meetup means you
clearly understand you cannot make organizer/s or the group members liable for anything.
