Peer Support for Partners of Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse
Supporters need support too. Welcome to Ariadne’s Thread Peer Support Group for Partners of Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse. Living with a partner can be a wonderful, rewarding experience. But the usual relationship challenges can be even more complicated and difficult to navigate when one of the partners has a history of sexual abuse.
Come and share ideas with others on how to stay emotionally healthy while supporting your mate through their trauma recovery. Confidentiality will be honored.
Who this group is for: This group is for anyone who is in a committed partner relationship with a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. All backgrounds and sexual orientations are welcome. Unfortunately, we can’t include parents, siblings or friends of survivors.
Where the name "Ariadne's Thread" comes from: The name "Ariadne's Thread" refers to the Greek myth, in which Ariadne fell in love with Theseus, and gave him a sword and a thread to unwind as he made his way through the Labyrinth. After defeating the Minotaur, Theseus used the thread to find his way out of the Labyrinth, back to Ariadne.
Note: Our biweekly meetings will be held in Richmond Hill starting September 2011. Exact time and day has yet to be determined.
