Monthly Meeting - Practical Ultralight Backpacking with Dallas Shewmaker

Dallas Shewmaker is the owner of one of the very few independent outdoor specialty retailers in the Valley, Lowergear Outdoors, in Tempe.

Lowergear got its start as the first online camping gear rental company in 2003, and ships rental gear nationwide through its website lowergear.com (http://lowergear.com/) and provides local rentals at its retail store. At retail sales, the focus is on lightweight backpacking gear and footwear at one extreme, and kayak fishing with Hobie kayaks at the other.

Dallas has logged over a thousand backpacking miles in the Sierras, including a 12-day thru-hike of the John Muir Trail, and is a 7-time veteran of the grueling 45-mile Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim same-day trek across and back on the Grand Canyon corridor trails.
