For the Chili Cook-off and Pot luck on Saturday night, we have at least 13 contestants so far, bringing Chili and an additional 26 people who have indicated they are bringing food to share for the potluck.  There may be an additional 30 people from the SAR group, some of which will be joining the potluck and chili cook-off.  The breakdown of what we know so far is below.  If you are one of those that indicated on the survey that you were not sure what you will bring, we could use more side dishes.  If you have not indicated what you are bringing or would like to be part of the Potluck or Chili cook-off, please email Nancy Birdwell at to let me know what you can bring (this includes the SAR group).
6 people unsure
8 Appetizers
7 Desserts
5 Sides (3 breads and 2 salads so far)
The Park Service installed a shade structure last year with anywhere from 8-12 tables on Shoshone point, so we should have enough tables for the food without bringing extras.  There is also a fire pit available and no restrictions for fires.
What else to Bring(besides your food):
The club will provide small tasting cups and spoons for the chili tasting, and there will be plates, bowls and utensils for the potluck.
Bring your own chairs.
Bring firewood.
If you have chili or food that needs to be warmed, please bring your camp stoves.  (We’ll set up the Chili in a designated area and combine them on stoves as needed to keep them warm once they are ready)
Bring Lights or Lanterns if you have them.
For those needing to cook or warm food, please try to be out on the point between 5:30 and 6.  We would like to start the Chili tasting by approximately 6:45.  Sunset should be approximately 6:15pm that day, for those of you that wish to be there for the sunset.
For all Chili contestants, there will be prizes for First, Second and Third place.
Thank you, and if you have any questions regarding the potluck or chili cook-off, please email Nancy Birdwell at
