A nice meetup. Even as a fairly experienced computer guy, I think that I will learn several new things each time that I attend. Had some technical difficulties, but other than those, very worthwhile. I often say ....

If you don't learn something new each day, you will die stupid ! :-)

    Thanks, everyone.

Given enough time I should come up with one... Actually I do have one. In the media library is there a way to keep all the images categorized?

I am graphic designer and photographer so I put lots of images on my Wordpress site. On top of that when I start putting lots of my images on the blog a couple times a week the amount of images becomes overwhelming and to sort through.

I have figure out a way of putting many images into one layout using InDesign and then turning those into one image but even then it gets overwhelming. I also have designed photo buttons that link from some of my images.

My website is not quite done but you can view it here: http://www.effectivemds.com

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks, John Tarr

I have a question you might address tonight. If you do an update to one or more of your plugins on a site, what's the chance of that somehow screwing up your site? I know that activating a new plugin on a site can screw things up sometimes.

Do we need to first backup the site before installing any updates like that?

Thanks in advance, and thanks for your efforts holding the Meetup! :)

Not sure about the actual mathematical probability, but with backups I don't care. I backup before I do anything. I've had two plug-in conflicts that messed up my sites in the last two years so it happens. But if you think of how many times I've updated in two years, that isn't that bad. I would definitely back-up. Hope this helps. :-)

I was trying to investigate SkillForge, but they are running scripts that my computer does not allow. Does anyone know which ones are specifically related to that site, so that I can allow them. Thanks.

    • Carol S.

Joel Wurffel is the person with Skillforge. Search through the members and see if you can send him a message.

Given some of the recent discussions about WP security, I thought this infographic and very short article might be of interest to some folks here: http://www.noupe.com/wordpress/at-a-glance-how-to-secure-your-wordpress-site-infographic-77572.html
