The Arlington Noetic Science Group is the local group associated with the Institute of Noetic Sciences. We are interested in nurturing the conversation between science and spiritual values. In the words of former IONS President, James O'Dea, "We can change the story of our future because we bear within us the seeds of greater beings capable of love and great collaboration." At our meetings we examine one of the many different approaches to understanding this frontier of change in our world today. We often have guests who share their insights. Sometimes we watch an informative DVD. And we always have a lively discussion and share a few snacks. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month at the Unitarian Univeralist Church Building on California Lane in Arlington.

************************************** On a national level, The Institute of Noetic Sciences was founded in 1973 by Edgar Mitchell to “study the nature and potentials of the human mind.” Mitchell had a completely unexpected experience on his trip to the moon in 1971. Nothing in his life as a test pilot, engineer, or scientist had prepared him for the experience that followed seeing the planet Earth floating in the vastness of space. He called this experience an epiphany and accepted that this planet and the universe were not merely accidents. Mitchell says this knowledge came to him directly- noetically.
