Science Museum Lates: The Next Big Thing

Details
"This month we’re collaborating with the Royal Society as they bid to discover The Next Big Thing!
We’ll be taking a look at what booze does to our brains, why diamonds are more than just a gemstone and if robots can evolve. Experts will also be discussing the toilet habits of extinct animals and how ants can help us avoid information overload.
Plus all the regular highlights of live music, Punk Science comedy show and the best silent disco in town.
HIGHLIGHTS
Gender, Sex and Relational Robots
Robotic scientists are speculating about a future of human-robot love, sex and relationships. Dr Kathleen Richardson will explore the model of sex and relationships that is drawn upon by some in the field to make a case for human–robot relationships.
Punk Science: The Game Show
It’s like Saturday-night primetime television, only with more science and less Ant and Dec. Come and have fun with photons, laugh about lasers and get an education in illumination. This comedy duo will be hosting a rowdy live game show where contestants are picked from the crowd and the prizes are dazzling!
Tickets are available to purchase in advance (http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/visitmuseum/plan_your_visit/~/link.aspx?_id=E5CCEC584DC141E1B53D3D8FE7842BBC&_z=z) – prebooked ticket holders join the VIP queue for quick access to the museum on the night of Lates.
The Stimulated Brain
Can a tiny electric current change the way you learn? Join Charlie Stagg and her team to see brain stimulation in action and discover how this tool might begin to help people recover after a stroke.
Levitating Trains and Saving the Planet
Watch as Suchitra Sebastian demonstrates a levitating train! Find out what this has to do with alternative energy solutions, and explore the magic of superconducting materials."
