Mission:

We believe art is a reflection of life and by engaging with cinematic art, we are able to learn more about what movies are specifically telling us about the human condition. Our mission is to share our love for cinema with others, and also educate and inspire one another to look beneath the surface of a movie when we might not have done so otherwise.

Meetups:

We are a very diverse group of people who may or may not be directly involved with "the industry." We get together once a month at a private location to watch a movie, then discuss it afterwards over snacks and drinks. Plot, theme, character development, screenwriting, and cinematography are just some of the elements used as starting points for a discussion.

In programming our screenings, member suggestions, especially those from regular attendees, are taken into consideration as much as possible. We aim to screen movies that could easily spark an interesting discussion, but are also diverse - ranging anywhere from a well known Hollywood blockbuster to an overlooked indie art house. In the past, we have screened movies as different as "Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" (1966) and "The Prestige" (2006) and directors as different as Alfred Hitchcock and Wes Anderson. No genre is untouched and we do not shy away from challenging or difficult subject matter. A running list of all previously watched movies is at www.meetup.com/ArtonLife/photos/26253148 and will continue to be updated.

If you enjoy watching movies that make you think, feel, and reflect, then this group is for you. If you hate it when people talk or use their cell phones during a movie, but won't/can't stop talking and Googling when it's done, then you should be a part of our group.

Cost:

There is no Meetup site membership fee. However, attendees are expected to bring snacks and drinks to share. Additionally, a $5 cash donation is strongly suggested for attendees and collected during each month's event. These donations will be used only for the following expenditures, and in this order:

• Paying for the cost of the Meetup page ($14.99/mo.)
• Purchasing necessary materials to maintain a clean/tidy location
• Saving a reasonable amount in case of equipment/technology breakdown or accidental damage to location property
• If enough funds are left over - treating attendees to an occasional catered dinner or other type of special event/screening

No additional funds will be saved beyond these expenditures for any reason, as this group is in no way a business or other for profit venture.

RSVP Policy:

In order to sustain a meaningful discussion, our events have an RSVP limit of 25 people. Please be respectful to other members and always keep your RSVP status up to date. Three "Yes" RSVP no-shows within one year will result in removal from the group. Members will receive an email reminder about this after their second no-show, and any exceptional circumstances will be taken into consideration before a removal decision is made.

Site Activity Policy:

While there is no minimum event attendance policy, we kindly ask that our members log in on Meetup and visit our group's page at least once a year. With a few exceptions, members who are marked as inactive for over one year on the page will be automatically removed from the group. This is not a banning or blocking procedure by any means, and should not be taken offensively. It is simply "good housekeeping" for the page and its mailing list. If you are still interested in this group after removal, please feel free to rejoin at any time.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
