New Meetup: Asheville Skeptics Meetup #2 : Thirsty Monk Symposium

Announcing a new Meetup for Asheville Skeptics!

What: Asheville Skeptics Meetup #2 : Thirsty Monk Symposium

When: July 1,[masked]:30 PM

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

From Wikipedia and my dimly remembered undergrad intro to philosophy class comes the word symposium as defined in its original sense as:

Symposium originally referred to a drinking party (the Greek verb sympotein means "to drink together") but has since come to refer to any academic conference, or a style of university class characterized by an openly discursive format, rather than a lecture and question?answer format.

I'm all for resurrecting the original meaning beginning this Wednesday night, 7:30, at the Thirsty Monk in downtown Asheville. This venue offers an incredible beer selection and good food in what I hope will be a symposium conducive atmosphere.

Come thirsty and charged up to discuss your favorite topic, be it creationism or chiropractic, ear candles or colon irrigation (eww...) we can cast the skeptic's eye on them all.

Please RSVP on the Meetup homepage.
