Organic fest tabling

Greetings all Members.

What a wonderful event organic fest turned out to be.  I want to send a special thanks out to Dianne. She helped me setup and was an inspiration to all she talked with. It seems that people are drawn to her as she exudes compassion and caring. Talking with Dianne gives people the understanding of why we do do what we do. The message of compassion for all sentient beings and Vegan lifestyle rolls easily from her lips.  The morning was very exciting as the turn out was brisk mostly with locals.

Louis arrived with her books in support of Goat Mountain. Hundreds of people were interested in her writings. Sales were very good. Her understanding of the spiritual aspects of our endeavors was well expressed.  We spread the word about the great work Rob Leavy is doing at Goat Mountain Ranch Sanctuary.  I do not have the $ amount raised, but my estimate is around[masked] to feed and care for the family at Goat Mountain. Rob and Debra were not able to table this time. For a VERY good reason.  Thanks  to Rob and Debra who hauled 500 bales of hay with Rob and some others. It was much better they received this hay than sit at the table.  Y'all were with us in spirit. So thanks for those efforts and we will see y'all at the next tabling event.

Special thanks to Julia. Her devotion along with her smile were present with everyone she spoke with. She handed out a lot of children's info along with stickers. She also stepped up and help with the cost of the table. The morning shift served well and many people seemed impressed that we even made an effort. So many people ask what we were selling and were surprised to learn we were simply advocating for animals.   Thanks to Frank too. He was side by side with Julia in making the message clear. Franks special compassion for what we are attempting to achieve is clean and forthright. We really need more members like Frank who are easy to talk with and share their passion for animal welfare. Also a member who is willing to step up and help when needed.

Nanette served the mid day shift and kept us all neat and in order. Her words rang loud and clear about our intentions. This may have been the busiest shift and Nanette stood proud in getting the message out. Her inspiration as a leader displayed the caring that is present with our group.

We sure missed Bri as she was unable to make the afternoon shift.  Regardless, we obtained about 100 signatures on our petition to ban circuses in Asheville. I was very surprised at the number of people who stepped up to sign the petition. Some of these people even donated - unsolicited- to our efforts for this endeavor. Also thanks Bri for stepping up with financial support.

The afternoon shift got a bit busy. Lost of out of town visitors and newly arrived residents. We passed out about two cases of Vegan starter kits and another two cases of Compassion for Animals books. Hundreds of childerns stickers were also passed out.  We met many people who had been veg and had gone back to a less compassionate diet.  At least three of these people stated they were gonna give it another try after some conversation about health and compassion.

Special thanks to Charles and Iris. Due to Family events they were not able to table this time. But their financial support in their absence made tabling this event possible. You wonderful folks were with us in spirit.

Special thanks to Tom and Debbie Athos the organizers of this event.  For 12 years they have diligently brought this message to Asheille.  They will always be our Vegan friends. Overall it was a very successful event. The turnout was very good and the people receptive. Our message of compassion for all sentient beings, eliminating cruel enslavement of animals and a Vegan lifestyle was well heard and accepted. There were a few people who disagreed with our message and by contrast that only made our message sweeter.

I will quote Joe Vegan man because he said it so rightly:

Wasn't it cool how all the food (that I saw at least) was vegan? Ice cream.. coconut bacon.. and if I'm not mistaken the Thai food truck was vegan for a day? And with Full Circle, Goat Mountain and Asheville Voice For Animals there it had the feel of a vegfest (doesn't hurt that the OrganicFest organizer if vegan either!).

Thanks for all the efforts may by the tabling crew. It was a great event and we look forward to seeing ALL our members at the next tabling event. Stay tuned and remember: Its for the Animals.
