SLIDING ROCK @ TALLULAH GORGE_SOLD OUT

Join us for an awesome hike into Tallulah Gorge where we will hang out, sunbathe, eat lunch (you bring your own lunch) and then slide down 50" Bridal Veil Falls.This is free hike but I would appreciate $5 donation to help maintain with meetup fees so we can keep organizing events.

One of the most spectacular canyons in the eastern U.S., Tallulah Gorge is two miles long and nearly 1,000 feet deep.No more than ( 20 ) people can attend due to park rules, SO PLEASE ONLY RSVP if you actually plan to show.We will be hiking the HURRICANE FALLS LOOP TRAIL (hikers only, NO PETS )Approximately 2 miles, round-trip. Mulched with metal stairs. Rated strenuous. • This trail has a total of 1,099 stairs (including staircase to gorge floor) • Please do not attempt this trail if you have any known health condition • No flip-flops or crocs.

We will meet at Visitor Center, as EVERYONE will have to obtain a Gorge Floor Permit from the park, before you will be allowed into the gorge.This trail is all rocks, bouldering, etc... it is NOT an easy hike, especially in summer heat. They only issue 100 permits into the gorge, so be there early to get your permit.We have to be at Tallulah Park Office at 8:00AM to get a Gorge Floor Permit. If you are LATE, you will be left to get there on your own.

Wear your swimsuit, as sliding rock is a great place to slide...and has a lower pool to swim in. A pair of water shoes (Tevas, Chacos or other water shoes) is highly recommended. There are portions of the hike where we will have to wade across the river and it can be waist deep.

Bring a lunch, towel, bathing suit, a change of clothes if you wish and PLENTY of water, Gatorade, etc. You will NOT need your hiking poles on this hike, you will be bouldering, crawling, sliding, etc., across rocks... You will need your hands free to hold on!There are facilities at the Welcome Center you can change clothes in for the trip home, there are no bathrooms in the gorge.There is also a parking fee at this park, $5.00 per car.
