The next meetup is now scheduled. We are taking a "learn-by-doing" approach to understanding the inner workings of Alfresco. As a community we will work to solve two problems that we believe are strategically aligned with Alfresco's interests. We will then contribute the code back to Alfresco.
Problems to solve:
(1) Automate the deployment of Alfresco instances to an arbitrarily large cluster of servers in a Public (Amazon) or Private Cloud (Eucalyptus/VMWare).
(2) Expose key metrics about the Cloud environment, individual servers and Alfresco via a Surf based web application. Answering questions such as: How many documents are in my repository? How many users? How much space is consumed? Performance throughput? CPU and memory utilization? etc?
Imagine adding clustered and configured Alfresco capacity by using an Amazon like user interface. Rightscale solves the problem of automating the scaling of servers at the box/OS level. Think "AlfrescoScale", which solves the problem of automating Alfresco servers both at the box/OS level AND at the Alfresco level. Fully configured. Fully Clustered.
