Announcing a new Meetup for The Atlanta Browncoats Firefly Meetup Group!
What: A Night Of Charity And Cocktails!
When: September 25,[masked]:00 PM
Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)
Alayna is planning this event, which is a companion event to the Serenity Screening Fundraiser that occurs on Sunday, Sept. 27th!! If you can't make it out to the film, or that's just not your cup of tea, here's your chance to contribute...while having a lot of fun! What is this?
In lieu of the monthly house party/bar gathering, we're going to be having a rum tasting party! This event will be sponsored by Horne Rum, a locally owned business. They're generously providing us with some rum and some recipes (so bring a DD or your sleeping bag...you might need it!). We will also have hors d'oeuvres, food, and other cocktails available for those who don't like rum. In addition, bottles of this fabulous local rum (which is now found at many bars in the Atlanta area) will be offered for sale. Where is this?
As of now, it'll be at Alayna's apartment in Sandy Springs. If the interest in this event exceeds the available space, we'll be looking to move it to a larger place, but right now, we'll keep it small. When is this?
Friday, September 25th, 8 PM. Hors d'oeuvres and a brand new cocktail will be served. The rum bar will open at 9! How much does this cost?
Admission to this party is $10; or $5 if you bring at least 5 non-perishable, non-refrigerated food items in cans/boxes. How is this for charity?
All the donations collected at the door will be donated to the charities being sponsored by the Serenity Screening, which are Equality Now (a group campaigning for freedom and equality for women around the globe) and Atlanta Food Bank (the main food provider for Atlanta's homeless and underprivileged.) We're really pleased to be able to help make a difference and give back to the community, in our own small way. Will other fun stuff be happening?
Of course! It'll be a normal house party, complete with games, music, a poker tournament, and MAYBE even karaoke. Is there a theme?!
Absolutely! What would a rum tasting party be if you didn't come decked out in your beach/island attire! Bathing suits, shorts, dresses with funky patterns, and flip flops are all welcome. No suits and ties allowed! Who is welcome to attend?
Everyone! Well, as long as everyone is a group under 35 people, and everyone is over 21.
So, save the date now!! This should be a super-fun night, and a way to let loose for a good cause!
