Content Strategy Atlanta is thrilled to present Kate Kiefer Lee, MailChimp writer and editor and author of voiceandtone.com, as our second guest speaker. Come join us for a great night of content goodies!
About the Talk
Our readers and users are human. They have their own preferences, experiences, senses of humor, and perspectives—and they bring all of that with them when they read our content. We can’t see our readers, and we don’t know what’s going on in their lives, so we don’t always create experiences with their feelings in mind. Certain topics are likely to make them feel uncomfortable or frustrated. Many of us work on sensitive content types every day—like error messages, alerts, terms of service, and financial information. We'll talk about how to anticipate the reader’s emotional state and write from a place of empathy. We'll also talk about apologizing with grace when something goes wrong.
Kate Kiefer Lee is a writer and editor at MailChimp. She loves helping people and companies write clear and friendly content. She's cowriting a book called Nicely Said: Writing for the Web with Style and Purpose, out in June from New Riders. Find her on Twitter at @katekiefer.
