Very limited, but slightly. Ideally joining this group would give me access to typical Japanese conversation that is not scripted (i.e. like movies, television. which is all i have access to outside of software) as well as ask questions about underlying contextual meanings of phrases (like the ubiquitous sumimasen :).
I have 90% of hirigana down, still learning the katakana. Utilizing Livemocha and Rosetta Stone, I'm still in the early stages. I understand the basic sentence structure and have my pronouns, colors, and numbers down. Looking to learn a lot more! I've tried to focus on learning at a deeper level than memorization utilizing visual explanations rather than English translations. Also, at this point my listening skills are better than my speaking skills, since I have no one to talk to haha.
Konichiwa! I've been a fan of Japanese culture for quite a while and recently decided to do something productive during my summer break (College grad, but not starting work until Aug) and have thus started learning Japanese. I would love to join you!
