Please join Lester Martin who will be presenting on Apache Hadoop. He will present a crash-course in the history of Hadoop, describe all the major moving parts, discuss the sweet-spots for this technology, review who the major players are, and detail Microsoft's involvement in this open-source suite of components.
As fast as we can we'll jump into a technology deep dive. "Core Hadoop" (i.e. HDFS and MapReduce) will be presented, and demoed using C#! We'll continue on and discuss the higher-level abstractions of Pig and Hive and demo the MapReduce use case in these ecosystem tools.
Lester Martin
Lester is a 20+ year software development veteran with skills ranging from the mainframe, through every kind of distributed & web technology, and more recently has been focusing on "big data" tools to include Hadoop and NoSQL technologies. He currently works in the professional services organization of Hortonworks (http://hortonworks.com/) and can talk your ear off about this exciting technology.
