Historic Sears & Roebuck Building on Ponce De Leon

Originally used by Sears & Roebuck Co. from[masked], and the City of Atlanta as 'City Hall East' afterwards, this historic Atlanta landmark is currently undergoing a major facelift. Situated on the corner of Ponce De Leon Ave. and Glen Iris Dr., the Sears & Roebuck building is in the renovation stage as it transforms into the future Ponce City Market due to open in 2014. Come join us as we've been give a few hours to photograph this enormous space before all the wrinkles are removed. Although many of the integral parts of the building have already been renovated, there is still plenty to shoot in the way of graphic elements, textures, and light. Depending on construction going on that day, we will have access to 9 levels of the building, the parking deck, as well as staircases, an electrical room, and the rooftop. Each attending member will be required to sign a waiver of liability and wear a hard hat at all times during the meetup. For liability reasons, we have also been asked to stay together as a group and limit the attendance to 12 members. No guests or models please. There is onsite free parking. The parking deck entrance is located on Glen Iris Dr. For more information please visit www.poncecitymarket.com.

Please bring your cameras, tripod, remote triggers, and all lenses. Please wear comfortable shoes that protect your feet completely. Sneakers are recommended.

Attending members will receive an email with final details a few days before the meetup. As always, if you have any questions, you may reach me at [masked].

Thanks Dean.....it was nice not having to enter an old building through a hole in a fence or a broken window. Wish we had more time.....but still a lot of fun. Thanks for making it happen.

Thanks to Dean for again organizing and making available a wonderful place to shoot and for providing support and knowledge. Thanks also to Anna of Ponce Market for being our guide and sharing her knowledge of the history and future of this project.

Dean had provided yet another great, unique location for a shoot. This building has so much character and I'm glad to see the developer utilize a lot of the original structure. I would love to return when the work is completing and be able to shoot in the same areas. Thanks, Dean. You do a great job mentoring. And thanks also to our host at the Ponce Market.

It was great to get into this building before too much work had been done. While it would have been great if more of the original interior was available, I thought there was still plenty of character and am looking forward to working on my photos. Also glad to have taken time off of work to go on this excursion! Thanks, Dean!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
