Can an API be copyrighted?

What's in a Name? Recent Developments in Copyright Protection
for APIs.

The Oracle v. Google trial wrapping up in California has renewed
the legal debate on whether copyright protection of software extends to application programming interfaces (APIs). We'll discuss the current state of the law, and what an appellate victory for Oracle might mean to the software industry and developer community. We'll also have an interactive discussion on some of the analogies and constructs lawyers and developers can use to explain these important software and legal concepts to our friends, families and colleagues.

Dear Lindsay and Brent, Thank you again for inviting me to speak to the Atlanta Unix Users Group last night. Please extend my gratitude to your members for their warm reception and thoughtful questions. Melanie, Jenna, and I all enjoyed the evening, and I look forward to continuing the long-standing relationship between AUUG and Morris Manning. Best Regards, Marty Farrant Marcus G. "Marty" Farrant
