It is a dark time in the land of project development... There is a war being waged in the earth today that does not involve tanks, bullets jets, bombs or guns. It is being waged by a soldier of a different type - one committed to the free optimized flow of information to users everywhere. This war was spawned with the rise of the “feature first” mindset which gave precedence to the delivery of eye candy at the cost of other aspects just as important. It has been fed by the ignorance of the technically challenged whose primary concern is “checking the box” and keeping things moving. The soldiers in this war often stand alone in their fight to free applications from the bonds of dismal performance, yet they engage at every opportunity on every turn to break these bonds. These ”soldiers” fight the Performance Wars….
In this presentation Amit Patel will share about all the different lessons learned and anti-patterns developed after years of performance wars. Testing a site for performance is only the first battle. Understanding how to implement fixes, coordinating with different departments, prioritizing the work, and solving process and procedure issues are all required to get things done inside even a moderately sized organization.
