Are you seeking a more meaningful experience of your walk in Christ? Consider the wisdom of the great Christian mystics — men and women from every century and throughout the Christian world who have reported profound, life-changing encounters with the presence of God in their lives, even to the point of experiencing complete and total communion with God. This Meetup, open to Christians of all denominations as well as sincere seekers regardless of religious or spiritual identity, offers anyone interested in the treasures of Christian mysticism and contemplative spirituality to gather in a relaxed, friendly environment to meet one another and learn together how mysticism can bless our spiritual lives, here in the 21st century. Topics of discussion will include meditation, contemplation, other spiritual practices like lectio divina (sacred reading), daily prayer including the Liturgy of the Hours, Benedictine and other types of monastic spirituality, Christian spirituality and interfaith dialogue, and much more! Some of the great mystics whose teachings we will explore include Meister Eckhart, Julian of Norwich, Thomas Merton, Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Evelyn Underhill, John Ruusbroec, the Desert Fathers and Mothers, the Celtic saints, as well as anonymous writings like The Cloud of Unknowing and The Way of a Pilgrim.
