Polymer & Materials Design: Google's vision of future web standards

  • Sep 3, 2014 · 6:30 PM

Abstract: Polymer is an opinionated library trying to find the new standards for the web. Materials Design is Google's new design concept that adds a z-axis to your layout. Polymer aims to componentize the web, making things easier to build than ever. Materials Design adds depth to layouts, aiming to make design more intuitive than ever.

Bio: Jonathan Popham: Organizer for GDG Atlanta, entrepreneur, works for a startup called Does Polymer and Ruby on Rails to pay the bills. Makes stuff just for fun.

Great presentation! The "Meaningful Transitions" portion of Material Design is especially interesting. Here's a neat codepen I came across:

Well I wanted to go but navigation took me to the address but didn't tell me which building it was. I'll ask next time.

Thanks Cesar. Unfortunately I had moved on from bumper to bumper into traffic flow north and didn't see this. Looks like it was a great one. HATE that I missed it!

Thanks for everyone who came out! I've got a new blog, it's so new in fact that I haven't finished writing the app for it :). Demo gods willing it will be available at, in the mean time I admit it is vapor ware, but I want to make this information available.

send me an email at [masked] if you want to build stuff or want to ask more questions.

    Update on parking:
Parking: There is a garage on Peachtree Street between the FedEx and Marriott Hotel. Turn into the alley and take the first left to enter the garage. Park in “A level.” Once you arrive in the building – the front desk will direct you to the elevators.
